Known affectionately as the 'Oscars of the Industry' , The Goldsmiths' Craftsmanship & Design Awards are the only peer reviewed technical and creative awards in the United Kingdom and are strongly supported by the industry and HRH Princess Michael of Kent as Royal Patron. A glittering evening  ceremony held at Goldsmiths' Hall in London saw  Julian  winning a Gold prize for his  Black Grouse model together with a  Special Award from the Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council. The Black Grouse was also nominated for the Baird & Company Award and was one of only two final pieces considered for the premier award of the evening , The Jacques Cartier Memorial Award. Having been judged by experts drawn from all aspects of the jewellery and allied trades  for a piece of hand modelled sculpture to reach this level is a great success and shows that the artisan craftsman is alive and well.
